Naming oxy acids

Oxy acids are acids which contain oxygen in the chemical formula. The table below shows five common oxy acids.

| HNO3 | nitric acid |
| HC2H3O2* | acetic acid |
| H2SO4 | sulfuric acid |
| H2CO3 | carbonic acid |
| H3PO4 | phosphoric acid |
*The formula of acetic acid is also commonly written as CH3COOH.
