Are Neanderthals human ancestors?
Recent reports from the findings based on mtDNA seems to suggests that comparisions of mtDNA with that of the Neanderthals do not show enough similarities that support any interbreeding between Neanderthals and early modern humans living in Europe.

Many scientists still have debates on whether Neanderthals were a different species from modern humans. Not all scientists believe that mtDNA comparisons of modern human and that taken from the Neanderthal can give a definitively answer that Neanderthals were a different species from modern humans.

Our quest to definitively answer this question "Are Neanderthals human ancestors?" may yet be in the realm of the unknown. It is only through our inquisitive minds and our persistent probing into the knowledge of science will we ever find the true answer ... some day. Perhaps it's you.
