Why volunteer and who qualifies:

Official conference activities will start on Sunday July 31 and last through Thursday morning August 4. You will interact with the conference organizers, educator, presenters and exhibitors from all over the world. It's an opportunity to get involved with a great conference without paying for the conference registration. Your volunteering experience will be a nice item to have on your resume.

All graduate students, post-secondary students, Grade 11/Grade 12 high school students are encouraged to volunteer at ChemEd 2005. We ask students to volunteer a minimum of 3 shifts, each being 4 hours in length, during the conference. You will be expected to attend the volunteer orientation on the evening of July 27 at UBC. (This orientation is included towards your total number of volunteer hours.) A criminal record check may be required.

Benefits:

  • All volunteers will receive a distinctive ChemEd 2005 volunteer T-shirt, which must be worn at all times while on duty.
  • Meet and interact with educators and presenters from around the world. With a minimum of three 4 hour shifts, a volunteer will receive FREE attendance to any sessions* and/or keynote sessions during the times when he/she is not on duty.
  • Access to the exhibitor display area to view exhibitor displays.
  • High school student volunteers will receive a letter of acknowledgment from the ChemEd 2005 organizers for the number of hours of volunteer duties performed for their Career and Planning Portfolio (CAPP).
  • Enriched by the experience of participating in an international event.

*Please note that volunteers who have paid to attend workshop(s) must inform us in the application form so that we can coordinate your volunteer schedule around these workshop times.
