Transportation at UBC
Taxis are readily available in front of the Walter Gage Residence. There is also a direct taxi telephone line in The Gage Towers lobby. Buses to all parts of Vancouver depart and arrive regularly at the UBC Bus Loop located immediately south of the Student Union Building. Bus schedules are available in the Student Union Building and at The Gage Towers Front Desk.
Parking at UBC
Parking is available at a rate of $5.00 (+ 7% GST) per vehicle per night for delegates staying in the Walter Gage Residence. For information regarding parking elsewhere on campus, consult UBC Parking Services.
Banking at UBC
The Bank of Montreal (MasterCard) and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (VISA) in the University Village provide banking and exchange facilities. Both have 24-hour automated teller machines (ATMs). Some banks in the city are open Saturdays, however all banks are closed Sundays. ATMs are also available in the lobby of The Gage Towers, in the Student Union Building, and at University Pharmacy in the University Village.
Climate
Daytime temperatures in July are usually in the mid-20's degrees Celsius, mid-70's degrees Fahrenheit. Occasional rain should be expected. For evenings, sweaters or jackets may be needed. For more up-to-date weather information, visit Tourism Vancouver's website. |

Insurance
Liability insurance is the responsibility of each individual delegate. The Canadian Medical Health Insurance Plan does not cover visitors to Canada therefore delegates should have their own medical coverage.

Internet access at UBC
High-speed internet service is available in guest rooms in the Walter Gage Residence. You may access your e-mail free-of-charge at computer terminals on the main floor of the Student Union Building, located across the road from the Walter Gage Residence.
