7.2 - Mole Concept

Scale up for the lab

We need to scale up to the mole in order to be able to handle chemicals in the laboratory.

• We cannot weigh out a molecule of water. But a mole of water is about 18 grams.
• We cannot weigh out a formula unit of table salt. But a mole of table salt is about 58 grams.
