In section 4.7
we learned that covalent
bonds are formed by the sharing of electrons
between nonmetals.
Specifically, when a covalent bond is formed between two identical
nonmetals, a nonpolar covalent bond is formed.
When two or more atoms are joined together chemically by covalent
bonds, a molecule is formed. The mass of a molecule
is called the molecular mass.
Take a look at the kind of molecules
that have this kind of bond again.
Point to consider:
What kind of bond would be formed if the sharing of electrons is between two
different nonmetals?
