10.3 - Strong and Weak Bases

An important weak base is NH3, ammonia. Ammonia is a gas which dissolves in water to give a basic solution. In an aqueous solution of ammonia, only about 1% of the ammonia becomes ionized. Therefore, the solution contains a relatively low concentration of hydroxide ions.
