Celsius Scale

On the Celsius scale, the freezing point of water is 0^oC and the boiling point of water is 100^oC. The Celsius scale was formerly called the centigrade scale because it was based on the 100-degrees distance on a thermometer between the freezing point of water and the boiling point of water.

Approximate temperatures:

• room temperature is approximately 20^oC
